A Common Theme

Last week I started a comparative essay on two works of 12th Century literature. This particular class Foundations of Literature, requires the students to pick from a list of common themes, then select two literary works to compare and contrast.

One of my choices, The Lays of Marie de France, tells a story based on the 5th Century Legends of King Arthur. The interesting twist is that some believe the Author to be an Irish women using the pen name of a Frenchman in order for her work to be published. The poem Landvil, and the Spanish short story Don Quixote, are very different in plot and character, yet they have a common theme… LOVE.

I will be back in a few days with a few thoughts on love!

For the love of writing.

I’m Outside… Be back soon with a new story.

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

— Oscar Wilde.

I waited a year before enrolling back to college, that was after a six year departure from my previous two years of schooling. I had to wait the year because I wanted to make sure I wasn’t being spontaneous… I can get that way sometime! I live in Massachusetts, not far from SNHU, my college of choice. After researching college level creative writing courses, this decision was easy. The amazing staff at admissions were beyond helpful, my student advisor is a reservoir of knowledge and so far, every Instructor has been awesome. I’m finally back, and have been for a year. My new goal is this Blog. I will be sharing stories and looking forward to feedback. Please join in and sign up… I look forward to your feedback.
